We are looking for an Afterschool Club Lead

  • Contract: Permanent, Term-Time Only (38 weeks per year)
  • Hours: Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM (10 hours per week)
  • Pay: Surrey S5: £15.21 – £16.29 per hour (Actual salary incl. paid holiday: £6,646 – £7,120 per year) 
  • Start Date: 2nd November 2026 or earlier by arrangement

We are looking for a reliable, organised, and approachable Afterschool Club Lead to oversee our daily wraparound care.

About the Role

As our Club Lead, you will ensure our afterschool provision runs smoothly, safely, and happily for children ranging from Nursery to Year 6. Working alongside Afterschool Club Assistants, you will create a relaxed space for pupils to unwind at the end of the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing daily sessions:
  • Supervising the club assistants
  • Assigning tasks, and creating a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Managing session registers, checking in arriving children, and coordinating collection with parents/authorised adults.
  • Overseeing a mix of free play, outdoor activities, table games, and quiet home-learning/reading areas.
  • Ensuring site security during club hours and managing departure protocols.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience working with primary school-aged children (ages 4–11) in either an educational, childcare, or club setting.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
  • Great organisational skills, punctuality, and a calm approach under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, supportive manner with parents and children.
  • Willingness to support the specific care needs of our youngest Nursery children.

Desirable:

  • Experience leading or supervising a small team.
  • Familiarity with electronic register management systems.
  • An interest in nurture-based approaches.
