We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone who has a sense of humour, patience, a genuine love for children and who is enthusiastic, reliable, punctual, and dependable.

The Role

You will be supporting the class teacher, as well as working directly with children. This specific position focuses on 1:1 support for children in KS1 with a range of language, social communication, and associated behavioural needs.

Skills and Experience

While we will offer training, experience of working with children would be a significant advantage, as would any qualification in school support. Experience of working in a school or childcare setting is desirable.

We are looking for a candidate who has particular skills in the following areas:

  • Establishing strong, fun, and supportive relationships with children.
  • An understanding and experience of supporting and championing learners with ASD traits and social communication needs.
  • Experience in supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
  • Is able to support young people to regulate emotions.
  • Can support learners to manage difficulties with focus and concentration.
  • Able to support learners to develop self-confidence and resilience.

Contract and Working Pattern

  • This is a Monday–Friday position during term time
  • The working hours are 8.30am - 1pm (which includes 60  minutes lunch duty) 

Contract Term:

  • Temporary position for the 2026-27 academic year
  • This contract will end if the child's EHCP funding ceases, or the child leaves the school.

Start Date: 1st September 2026

Salary:

  • Surrey S3 Salary band (pro rata)
  • 17.5 hours per week (TA role) - £8.360.62
  • 5 hours per week (Lunch Duty) - £2,715.18
